What is CTIC?

In fulfilment of its mandate, the IOC facilitates tsunami mitigation and resilience within its Member States through its network of four regional intergovernmental coordination groups, and their respective tsunami information centres for the Caribbean and adjacent regions, Indian Ocean, North Eastern Atlantic, Mediterranean and Connected Seas, as well as the Pacific Ocean.

Logos of IOC-UNESCO, Government of Barbados, CTICThe Caribbean Tsunami Information Centre (CTIC) is a partnership initiative between the Government of Barbados and the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO (UNESCO/IOC) to serve its forty-eight Member States and Territories within the Caribbean and adjacent regions.  The CTIC is hosted by the Government of Barbados and its operations are facilitated through a memorandum of understanding governing the partnership arrangement, and other mechanisms involving other Member States and partners at the level of the IOC-led Intergovernmental Coordination Group for the Tsunami and Other Coastal Hazards Warning System for the Caribbean and Adjacent Regions (ICG/CARIBE EWS).
