As a key organ of the Intergovernmental Coordination Group for the Tsunami and Other Coastal Hazards Warning System for the Caribbean and Adjacent Regions (ICG/CARIBE EWS), CTIC supports the implementation of activities targeted at the general public in the most vulnerable communities.

At this level, CTIC continues to work with local and municipal authorities, civic, faith-based, and community institutions, media, communicators, community champions, volunteers, local private sector and other groups with the aim of assessing risks, developing procedures and mechanisms for effective warning communication, and educating the general public in responding to tsunami threats in particular. These partnerships have contributed greatly in the successful execution of the Tsunami Ready Programme that is so pivotal for drilling down of the regional CARIBE EWS.
