Development and Distribution of Tsunami Preparedness Materials
Improving tsunami knowledge awareness and education on tsunamis and other coastal hazards has been another key focus of CTIC’s interventions to empower in-country authorities and populations to save lives and livelihoods. Through project and partner initiatives, CTIC has developed and distributed a suite of multi-format, tri-lingual resources and materials which can be further adapted to support comprehensive public awareness and educations activities including Tsunami Ready nomination, maintenance and renewal as well as the annual CARIBE WAVE Exercise. These initiatives have been grounded in the Tsunami Public Awareness and Education Strategy for the Caribbean and Adjacent Regions, and distributed to the target audiences of disaster management officials, educators, students, media, development agencies and the general public.
