Strategically, CTIC has focused on coordinating regional, national and community level technical training initiatives for tsunamis in association with key regional and international partners including US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) agencies and the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) among others.  Capacity building activities such as workshops and exercises have been convened.  CTIC is currently supporting the development of materials and resources within the framework of the IOC-led OceanTeacher Global Academy (OTGA) initiative which is a comprehensive web-based training platform that supports classroom training (face-to-face), blended training (combining classroom and distance learning), and online (distance) learning.  OTGA courses cover a range of topics related to the IOC programmes including tsunamis.  It contributes to the IOC Mandate and the implementation of the IOC Capacity Development Strategy, enabling equitable participation of all IOC Member States and IOC Programmes.
