      Summary

      The Second IOCARIBE-GOOS Working Group Meeting brought together regional and international experts to discuss progress and collaboration in ocean observing and forecasting across the Wider Caribbean Region. The session featured updates from IOCARIBE and the Global Ocean Observing System (GOOS), including the review of governance structures, regional initiatives, and new strategies to enhance data sharing and strengthen the regional observing network under the Ocean Decade framework.

       

      Discussions highlighted innovative projects such as the Coast Predict cloud-based system, the expansion of Caribbean glider missions, and the Fishing Vessel Observing Network, aimed at improving data coverage and accessibility. Participants emphasized the importance of regional cooperation, youth engagement, and government support to build an integrated ocean observing and forecasting system for the Caribbean and adjacent regions.
