International and Regional Partners

We work with multiple partners at various levels to support our Member States within the Caribbean and Adjacent Regions in the implementation of early warning systems for tsunamis and other coastal hazards. CTIC will continue to pursue strategic alliances and formal agreements with Member States, partners and donors in order to secure in-kind and financial resources to facilitate its efficient operations as part of the IOC’s global coordination system.

UN Organisations, Affiliates and International Agencies

Within the ambit of the IOC’s strategic role, we provide facilitation, technical expertise and collaborate with relevant UN organisations, affiliates and international agencies in support of global coordination for tsunami preparedness.  We work closely with the Indian Ocean Tsunami Information Centre (IOTIC), North Eastern Atlantic, Mediterranean and Connected Seas Tsunami Information Center (NEAMTIC), and the International Tsunami Information Center (ITIC) serving the Pacific Ocean, as part of the IOC’s global tsunami coordination system.

CTIC continues to partner with specialized UN agencies such as the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and its Sub-regional Office for Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean in particular as well as the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) among others.

Non-UN Regional Organisations

As a regional entity, CTIC has collaborated with other regional scientific and technical agencies to harness specialized contributions in support of our mutual Member States.  Partnerships and alliances have been forged with the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA), the Coordination Center for Disaster Prevention in Central America and the Dominican Republic (CEPREDENAC), the Caribbean Institute for Meteorology and Hydrology (CIMH), and the Seismic Research Centre of the University of the West Indies (SRC) in addition to other developmental agencies.

At the donor level, CTIC has partnered with the European Commission Humanitarian Aid department’s Disaster Preparedness Programme (DIPECHO) for the implementation of Tsunami Ready and other preparedness initiatives across various Member States in the Caribbean and Central America.
